A BRIEF HISTORY

This estate has a rich heritage that dates back to Colonial English times. Originally belonging to Colonel William Tippetts and his wife, Mrs. Winifred Tippetts, Magnolia has been preserved as a working coffee plantation for a century.

The original plantation house, a perfect example of the harmonious blend of Colonial and Coorgi architecture, is still standing, and currently houses Magnolia’s restaurant, Peppervine. Other precious heritage buildings include the reception, formerly the warehouse, and the first set of guest cottages, which used to be the labor quarters.

THE NAME MAGNOLIA

A fragrant white blossom perched on a tall tree, the blooming magnolia flower is the perfect symbol for the open, welcoming, peaceful getaway that the estate offers guests. It is also a favorite flower of the owners.

THE SURROUNDINGS

Magnolia Resorts are nestled in a lush, 100-acre coffee plantation. The ideal place for a tranquil, socially distanced holiday, Magnolia offers you infinite space to explore. Recommended hideaways around the estate are the two natural lake features. Follow the signs to find your way!

Along the trails, you might spot any of several species of exotic birds, including kingfishers, drongos, and even hornbills. Keep an eye out also for cascading blooms of dew-tipped orchids, spilling from the branches of tall, moss-covered trees.

ROOMS & COTTAGES

Magnolia offers two types of accommodation to guests – Executive Suite and Luxury Suite. Following are the details.

Room amenities include coffee maker, mini bar, 32 inch LED TV, 24/7 hot water, exclusive toiletries, hair dryer and power backup.

Plantation Cottage: The plantation cottage offers a spectacular view of the coffee estate. Each suite is nearly 800 square feet in size furnished with two twin-size beds (joined or separated), a spacious entertainment room with comfortable seating and a luxurious bath.

Grand Cottage: The grand cottage offers a spectacular view of the coffee estate and breakfast nook. Each suite is nearly 1000 square feet in size furnished with a king size bed, a spacious entertainment room with comfortable seating and a luxurious bath.

Magnolia Conferencing

Magnolia is an excellent venue for corporate events, family gatherings and other private functions.

Corporate Events

Magnolia is ideal for Board or Management meetings, conferences or team building events for over a hundred guests. Additional accommodations can be arranged at nearby resorts.

Private Functions

The scenic beauty of Magnolia makes it an attractive location for social events such as Graduation Parties, Weddings, Engagements and other celebrations.

The staff at Magnolia is there to help you host these events smoothly and successfully. Magnolia offers the following facilities.

Cariappa – Board Room, accommodating 20 guests
Thimayya – Conference Room accommodating 10 guests
Kaveri – Banquet Hall accommodating up to 100 guests. Ideal for large team meetings, workshops, group lunches and dinners, family events, and more

Corporate guests can rent audio and projection equipment for use during these events. Magnolia will also provide you with boards, easels, flip charts and various types of stationary required for offsite events. Do call us and find out more.

ACTIVITIES AROUND MAGNOLIA

Bicycles: Guests are welcome to rent the bicycles provided at the resort to tour Magnolia Resorts. Please avoid cycling on steep slopes near the villa and the surrounding hills. The roads are uneven and crashes will cause major injuries.

Plantation Walks: Our staff will take you on a tour of the estate. You are welcome to enjoy this large estate, our two beautiful lakes- Emerald and Turquoise, and miles of walking.

Trekking: There are several trails around Magnolia Resorts. Each trail offers a different view of the resort and the surrounding valleys as well as great exercise. Please be careful of leaches during rains and wet weather. Please DO NOT walk off trails or in unmarked areas as they may be home to leaches, snakes etc.

Bonfires: We offer a complimentary bonfire on any day of your stay. For additional bonfires, please request our staff. We’d be happy to light one for a nominal charge.

Golf: Guests staying at Magnolia are welcome to golf at the Coorg Golf Links, which was built in 1987 at Bittangala, about 6 km from the estate. The Concierge at Magnolia will make arrangements for you based on availability. Green fees are payable at Magnolia. It is important to note that the Coorg Golf Links only accepts players who are either members of golf clubs anywhere in the world or know golfing.
